<slightly OT> What will happen when millions of Americans get their credit card bills next month? If you own any of the 200-300 stocks (NYSE and NASDAQ) that are setting new highs, your feeling pretty wealthy right now and your buying gifts, clothing, tech toys, etc. , on and off line. Your not selling because you don't want the capital gains, this year. Sure, everybody expects the Jan effect to put another rise into the markets, but what if it doesn't?
People are quick to sell when there's a year+ between the sale and paying the taxes on it.
Oh well, just a thought.
Cheers
