'Twas the night before Christmas,
And all through the season
Not an IPO from Safeguard was seen,
Not even MultiGen, nor Who? Vision.
The 'net stocks were soaring,
filled with hot air,
In hope that their market caps
Still would be there.
While visions of abnormal returns
danced in my head,
waiting for Old Alan Greenspan
to take action at the Fed.

I sat with my data, calculator and pen
Safeguard was trading at a premium again!
(NAV = $20.29, so 20.8%)
I wondered where all the reasonable valuations went.
Zapata was back in the Internet,
And Cramer can comment on CNBC without fret.
My buy list was anemic, and my sells were too soon.
I wish I had bought 'net stocks,
before they went to the moon.

Then out on the roof there was a big noise,
To the window I flew to see who was the fusser,
Out of the corner of one little eye
What to you think I happened to spy?
A sleigh filled with prospectuses,
Piloted by Jolly Pete Musser.
Faster than bid/asks on EBAY he flew,
But I could not trade on the information he knew.

He handed reports for the companies he ran
and encouraged investment from all in the land.
The private companies that he had bought,
would be handed to the good investors he sought.
His elves in Wayne were busy all year,
assembling companies with valuations dear.
He hoped he could sell them, back on The Street,
so everyone could get a big Holiday Treat.

He shouted, "Out Arista, out Diablo, out XL, out QuestOne,
Out eMerge, out Kanbay, out WhoVision, out Nextron.
I-P-O, I-P-O, I-P-O all!"
Then he flew through the air,
it was quite a sight,
"Merry Christmas to all,
And to all a good night!!"

I awoke the next morning, fresh from my dream
wondering if reality lie in the things I had seen.
Running downstairs and looking under my tree,
I saw a note written by none other than he.
It said, "Don't you worry. Everything will be fine.
But if you want another offering, you'll have to wait until '99."

David,

With the ISCG acquisition complete does this set up another capital gain in the 4th quarter? With TLAB trading at $70 we already have a large gain. The basis for TLAB last quarter was $40.
