For a quick look at a company that I don't know,
I go to microsoft investor Research Wizard. I don't trust it on the positive side as much as I do to discard dog advice.
Jim Jubek gives solid advice there also.
Again, narrow down to a sector and learn it well.
Read all news on all the companies in that sector and you will get a very good feeling for the winners.
