To All, Intel is slashing prices on the Celery chip because sales are so great. Maybe all those distributors and value added resellers will find some more storage space for the million or so unsold boxes. <G> Seriously, this is the worst case of channel stuffing I remember seeing. Not only did the pc boxmakers stuff the channel, they went directly to the channel's customers to stuff them, too. Yes, for one quarter, that looks good on the boxmaker's eps, but it means no sales next quarter. And it also doesn't make their most important distributors very happy.

We have to ask why the pc oems, mainly Compaq and IBM, would make such a stupid strategic move. The only possible answer is that the crap is not selling to the final customers. And they still need to pump up their sales and eps to make bonuses this year and to inflate the stocks before they sell.
