This is a political witchhunt., Ekati., had intrinsic aboriginal claims.,
Aber doesnt., so to gain concessions., they the powers to be will orchestrate delays., block., moves to bring a world class deposit on
line., sort of reminds me when the Indians in the US were granted Casino rights to develop exclusive of state rights., what you have here is a due process of development being stalled until the proper
palms are greased. Just my opinion., but having had some limnology
in college., studying estuaries., lakes and streams., I do see an orchestrated attempt to stall this development. I guess the Premiier
of the NWT., may not be getting his due return off Aber., thats allright
Mr. Premier., when the last Gold miner exits the NWT and they turn off the lights., you and your pals can go hunt your seals on your snowmobiles.

So Mr. Reporter., from News of the North., why dont you publish both
sides of the story or is this not expediant enough for vested interests.?

Bob,

In the entire Northwest Territories the population is only 65,000 people. There are that many in 10 blocks in LA. Their impact on the environment is negligible compared to just one screwup at a mine. The water from Lac de Gras (the lake) is the primary water supply for the Kugluktuk residents-in other words, their drinking water. They probably just want to be sure that the gurus, experts, and engineers that Diavik are paying know what they're talking about. Cal

As much as I would like to see Aber expedited, the article is right. The locals have been systematically misled and cheated by government, churches, corporations etc. I don't blame them one bit for being skeptical. No doubt the right palms must be greased, it is hard to take an objective view of this. If you have ever seen the Coppermine River you might understand their concern. It is the cleanest clearest river I have ever seen. It really is spectacular.

Cheers
P.S. What gave you the idea that they salt roads?
