I believe only the vendor's application program is "non compliant".
IBM got named a defendent as leverage against the software vendor who
probably is some kind of industry remarketer or a business partner.
Looking through the article I see no IBM products that are non Y2K
ready. But that said, in 1999 and in particular in the year 2000 we
can expect IBM to be named as a defendent in a lot of these suits.
Keep in mind that to have a succesful suit you need to show damages so
most of the major litigation will happen after 1999. This suit is
pre-emptive with its intent to get the software vendor to provide the
fix or patch for free versus the couple of thousand dollar for charge
solution. They just want a free fix. The nasty stuff is still to
come.
