I am not trying to change anyones opinion here. I am saying that you will often pay 10 or more times to deal with a full service broker, but you get better service and many services which otherwise are not available. Tens of millions of sophisticated investors as well as those not sophisticated deal happily with the wire houses based on their perception of the value of the service. It is not for everyone, not is on-line trading. Neither is generically better or worse than the other. Clearly price is not everything in this decision. If it was the Merryls of the world would have been out of business a long time ago and obviously they are not.

You mean to tell us it is worth paying ten times the on-line commission
You have to watch out for "Pruguy", Sam. He would love to sell you some Prudential whole life insurance, and one of the lovely real estate scams Prudential Securities is famous for.

SAM,
You need to keep in mind that lindybill keeps saying I am an insurance agent even though I keep saying that I'm not. I work for Prudential Securities. Lindybill also isn't recognizing my comments on AOL or my comments regarding his erronious posts. He's a flamer and not adding anything constructive to the AOL diologue. It would be nice if he could offer some useful information to us.
