El...........

Who was it that posted the night before CPQChristmas?
I've got to find that and re-post it for all who missed it.....
I got a real good chuckle out of that one.

Thoughts for 1999

Maybe Dale is right about:

"13. Concentration of Assets

If you know what you're doing, you shouldn't have a big problem with owning just a few companies."

Of course if we really knew what we were doing, we would have sold Compaq and bought Dell. Hind sight is great! Right now, we would be selling Dell and buying Compaq. Predicting is fun! <g>

Next week could be interesting. I am seriously thinking about selling my bonds and buying more CPQ. I keep telling myself, don't do it. Wait for a market adjustment. Wait for a market adjustment.

I'm not sure I have the patience to wait. This is not a good sign. I have become a contrarian indicator. Sell when I buy, buy when I sell. It is the only sane thing to do. <GG>

Maybe Dale is right. The measures of a good stock have been changed. Buy what the herd is buying, not what makes sense. Momentum is what counts not value. Throw caution to the wind, jump on the new hot stocks. OK, I'm convinced! Now for the big question. What will be the momentum stocks of 1999?

Will old technology have it's day in the sun again? Is there some new technology that will rise to nose bleed heights? If so, what are they, or how do we find them?

Perhaps this next week would be a good time to share some thoughts on this topic. The market might be interesting next week, but I don't think it is going to be exciting. This exercise could entertaining.

Here are some stocks I have bought and some I have been tracking. Any thoughts are welcome and appreciated. I will warn you, that these are cutting edge companies. Just a few like IDX, and ELBO are making money.

Identix just bought the company making the finger print security device for Compaq. They are the Bio-ID company. I own some.
