Mike, Or, if they get hit for $1 billion, they can take a writeoff of $2 billion. Nobody notices one-time writeoffs and they never hurt the stock, even if they demolish stockholder's equity and cash. As the pc and mainframe market is proven to have feet of clay next year, they can pull that $1 billion in extra contingency money out and put it into the income statement to boost the stock price so they make next year's bonus. Sadly, no <G> on this one.
