some more news this evening after the close ........

SAUSALITO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 23, 1998--Shoreline Pacific Institutional Finance, the Institutional Finance Division of Financial West Group (Member NASD/SIPC), announced today that it has managed a $50 million private equity placement of convertible preferred stock for Andover, Massachusetts-based CMGI, Inc. (NASDAQ:CMGI).

The single institutional investor in the transaction is Rose Glen Capital Management L.P. of Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania.

As stated in the company's press release issued today, the proceeds from this private placement will be used for acquisitions of controlling positions in companies and working capital purposes.
