Help! I've been investing in gold mining issues for the last two years. Until today I didn't attempt to chart the rise of those stocks against the rise in the POG back in 87-88. Must admit that I was startled by the lack of price appreciation of stocks like PDG, HM and ABX during that period.

I have been under the assumption that should the POG double from here, most gold mining issues would triple or better. Not according to the action back in 1988 though. What am I missing? What happened to the average gold producer at that time. And why should I expect, if at all, a dramatic rise in gold shares in the future?

All comments and suggestions for further study would be appreciated.

Confused, Jon
