Hi John.

In my travels over the past 2 months or so I have learned that the fuel for Kerosene heaters is called 1K or sometimes K-1. Since the Montreal Ice Storm new Canadian standards have been introduced that require the heaters to shut off at a slight bump rather than after they have been knocked over. As well the heaters with a nominal 10 000 BTU output, for example, put the 10 000 out and are not adjustable thereby reducing the probably of producing CO and smoke and soot. Kerosene seems to be in good supply in most places but actually buying a heater is not as easy as it sounds as they are out of fashion except maybe in Quebec and eastern Ontario.
