"Schlumberger to buy Camco in $3.14 billion deal

On June 18, 1998 1:30pm we alerted our members of the following: CAMCO INT'L (CAM) $60 7/8 - with the recent death of CEO, Gary Nicholson, many traders are rumored saying a takeover maybe in the works. Sources close to the matter feel SCHLUMBERGER LTD (SLB) would be the leading candidate to acquire CAM, with SMITH INT'L (SII) and BJ SERVICES CO (BJS) also on the prowl.

Today June 19, 1998 Schlumberger Ltd. (SLB), a leading oilfield services company, said Friday it had agreed to acquire one of its smaller rivals, Camco International Inc. (CAM) in a stock swap worth $3.14 billion.

Under a definitive agreement signed by the companies, Camco shareholders will receive 1.18 Schlumberger shares in exchange for each Camco share. Camco shares closed at $62.25 on Thursday. Schlumberger closed at $69.94."

The only O/S stock they have now listed on their site (Stockrumors.com)is RON , as a rumored takeover...Stock up over $1.00 Thursday....Of course FGI still out there.
