Standby Generator Run Times Hi Emory, Here is a site that lists the run times for a number of different standby generators. theepicenter.com I seem to be getting about 6 - 7 hours on a 5 gallon tank at half load, which is about what they show. (Coleman Powermate 5000 ER) John PS - The site is also good for showing how to safely hook up a generator using a transfer switch and the proper gauges for long extension cords. There is also a part 1. I didn't use a transfer switch, but rather added some inside outlets that are not connected in any manner to the house wiring.
