Hey guys how about it,huh? I just got this email, see if y'all want to participate in this interactive process. ========================================= From: Sanjeev Sabhlok <sabhlok@rcf.usc.edu> Save Address Block Sender To: What we want to see in India <sabhlok@rcf.usc.edu>Subject: What would you like to see in India? Instead of criticizing what we seen in India, it is time to decide what we ***want*** to see in India. That is not as easy a task as it sounds. Indeed, it is a very strenuous process to arrive at a rational consensus on virtually any topic. The first nine months of these debates have yielded a tentative consensus, a preliminary document, called 'People's Manifesto' which will form the basis for the next round of debates. Over 135 members are currently subscribed to this debate, and over a thousand visit the website and archives (which are completely open to visitors) each month. These debators comprise many organizations and associations including those working in the field, professors and senior civil servants (both serving and retired), and professionals from almost all disciplines. This is indeed the first large scale open conference on the internet on India's policies where ideas and consensus are more important than who is behind the ideas. You are invited to participate in the formulation of this rational consensus as one among equals. This preliminary document - after suitable improvement - will soon be sent off to thousands of reknowned Indians across India for their feedback. This is an interative process. Hopefully by the end of the next year, the first edition of a well-structured and rational consensus will be published which will help all of us as Indians to decide what exactly we want to see in India and how we would like to achieve it. India can only change if we all agree on what we want. I cordially invite you to a) take a look at the manifesto and send in your comments (it is downloadable in Word format), b) subscribe to the debate, and send in suggestions. All this can be done at indiapolicy.org Thanks! And a happy new year!! Sanjeev
