Actually, from what I have heard this exactly what he promised to do in an interview with GQ magazine several months back. I've heard it stated so many times that I'm going to try and find some LexisNexus time when I get back in order to dig up his exact quote.

I think this message board should be renamed to include that quote, along with reference to the SEC filing where he decided "he was only kidding"..

The problem is Bezos stated in an interview he would not sell any stock until Amazon.con was profitable. He was going to continue to use his old Honda and live in a rented apartment was my understanding.
