I have seen exterior air supply routed through the floor right to the front of a fireplace installation.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned in this whole discussion, unless I missed it, is getting an opinion from a stove dealer (no, I am not a stove dealer). The fellow who works on my stoves has seen probably thousands of installations and could likely propose a safe solution for any installation. Just a thought. ...Tim
