Y2K is going to cause some inconveniences -- not impossible that there is a financial panic to go along with it, but things aren't as dire as he makes them out to be. The coming crash will mean more hardship than Y2K. Buy freeze dried -- you can store more in your cellar for the same amount of space and don't forget the extra ammo <g>.
