roq, if they put in usage based fees the net's growth will slow greatly. this is a bubble. i can just see someone saying there was no way to value a tulip. come on. it is merely a rationalization to get the cajones to do something dumb and jump in on a game of chicken already in progress.

my fair value for amzn is $30. this discounts ALL THE OTHER NETMALL FAILURES and gives them the benefit of some brand name recognition. what is your fair value? mike, what is your fair value since you said you had a model?

AR, I don't know what he's talking about. Sorry.

I have been through too many of these manias to believe the latest one. Just 3 years ago, every time I said that the chippies were going to have a rough row to hoe, somebody would always tell me how chip were becoming ubiquitous to the economy and chip stocks couldn't go down. Now 50-90% lower on most chip stocks, some will admit to the possibility. <G>

Actually, most of the e-tailers seem to be nothing more than glorified mail order catalogs. Yes it is easier and somewhat less expensive if you do not have to do a bunch of advertising, but in reality, it seems unlikely that you will provoke a big increase in demand, just a shift from some venus to others. Many people(myself included) are inclined to get the information off the web and then phone the order in.

Amazon is a good example, even if they took 100% of the book business, they seem overvalued by at least 100%. Historically that business trades at less than 1x sales (poor margins) But everyone knows this which is why the stock still climbs. Once everyone is more complacent and feels the valuation is justified, it would seem a good time to buy some puts. Even then, I refuse to be w/o puts on this stock.
