G - On BGP; lived in Washington, DC for 18 years where Borders dominated that market. Now, they've entered NYC market and compete head-on with Barnes & Noble. Smart Management, very innovative and cost-efficient. Best of all, they make make REAL profits every quarter, and are just beginning to become net-savvy. Glad we're in sync on this one.

After all the hoopla regarding online retailers dies down, only the profitable ones will survive.....nice thread you have here....thanx for pronto-reply - sw

>>That's my favorite bookstore<<

Borders was also my favorite until they took 3 weeks to get me a copy of a book... i tired of waiting, ordered through amazon and got my book in 3 days, pretty good considering i'm in hawaii.

this is an isolated incident, but did nothing to further my confidence in borders. the manager there said, "oh, amazon is really good... they can get their books out real quick and we have to wait sometimes..."

that being said, borders deserves a higher stock than 20-plus.

paul
