Been following and buying this one and just recieved (Thurs after market close) a message from my broker at E-Trade regarding margins on Internet Stocks thought I would pass it along. As of Jan 4 they are no longer allowing any margin on BII. December 22,1998 Dear E*TRADE Canada Customer, Effective January 4th, 1999 the margin loan values for certain securities will be changing. These changes are being made by our clearing broker, Merrill Lynch Canada and ourselves to recognize the extremely high volatility experienced with these securities, and are made in accordance with the Margin Agreement contained in our Customer Agreements and Disclosure Document. If your account is holding these securities, your buying power will decrease, and the amount that VERSUS will now lend you on these securities will also be reduced. This may result in your account becoming undermargined. Any margin calls due to these changes must be rectified by January 15,1999. The following stocks will be affected: Books-A-Million Inc. (BAMM - NASDAQ) Margin rate reduced from 50% to 25% EBAY Inc. (EBAY - NASDAQ) Margin rate reduced from 50% to 25% Yahoo Inc. (YHOO - NASDAQ) Margin rate reduced from 70% to 50% Amazon.Com Inc. (AMZN - NASDAQ) Margin rate reduced from 70% to 50% Egghead.Com Inc. (EGGS - NASDAQ) Margin rate reduced from 70% to 50% Bid.Com International (BII - Toronto) Margin rate reduced from 50% to 0% If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at 1-888-283-7787, locally at (416) 861-1458 or via e-mail at service@tradeit.com.
