Madafas, thanks once again for a very interesting article. I don't know how prevalent these practices are, but they need to be closely scrutinized by all of us. There is little that can be done to stop blatantly illegal, much less questionable activities, without shareholder vigilance concerning these practices. Encouraging these activities is nothing more than inviting corporate theft at our expense. That's why I got so annoyed with a poster on this thread who felt that Dell made a mistake by not shading its numbers.

I suspect that the problem is at its worst when companies merge using a pooling of interests accounting method.
