Not a genie but I can read...........

The release of Volkswagen's New Beetle has been one of the most anticipated automotive introductions in years. With styling based on the original Beetle, one of the best-selling cars in history, the New Beetle transcends its nostalgic value with a fresh, innovative approach to design and a solid, well-engineered chassis. Buyers have a choice of two engines: a spirited 2.0-liter/115-horsepower gasoline-powered four and advanced 1.9-liter Turbo Direct Injection diesel four-cylinder engine that's EPA rated at a highly economical 49 mpg on the highway. It offers outstanding safety features such as dual front and side airbags, seatbelts with pretensioners and force limiters, anti-lock disc brakes, and an effective crush zone plus an inviting list of standard features at a starting price of under $16,000 US.

Time to move, start a new thread...WATCH (VLKAY)---Ford could be Volvo's white knight - Barron's
NEW YORK, Dec 27 (Reuters) - Ford Motor Co. may be a ''white knight'' for Swedish automaker Volvo AB amid rumors a takeover proposal by the U.S. car giant could be made to head off to head off a rumored hostile bid by Volkswagen AG (quote from Yahoo! UK & Ireland: VOWG.F).

The report cited a recent interview with Volvo Chief Executive Leif Johansson, who, Barron's said, agreed finding a white knight in light of such a hostile bid would make sense. Johansson did not mention specific names, the report said.

Such conjecture comes amidst a flurry of speculation about consolidation in the industry which has also linked Ford with German luxury carmaker BMW (quote from Yahoo! UK & Ireland: BMWG.F) and struggling Japanese maker Nissan Motor Co. Ltd .

Speculation about a Volvo merger last flared in June, when Johansson met with Ferdinand Piech, the head of Volkswagen, Europe's biggest car company. Later Volvo said the two had only been discussing existing cooperation in diesel motors.

But on Monday Volvo announced it would not prolong the agreement whereby Volkswagen supplied Volvo with diesel motors, and would instead produce them on its own.
