This is really an interesting thread. Will suggest it as the basis of an investment club I'm starting in January. I'm more of a Ben Graham type investor, looking for undervalued stocks, and applying some of those principles to the internet realm has been tough. However, i did start two months ago when my father's company (MUZE) went public, a week after TGLO and ETWB. Really got into the IPO's. My list is coming straight from my head and I welcome any comments: 1. Yahoo. Unquestionably the leader. Life is what happens when you have other plans. Procter and gamble of the web. 2. AOL. ditto. Remember when "made in Japan" meant junk? Think honda. Someday it will be the easiest way to get online. All their modems will be top-speed, and they'll no longer send out those dang CD's. 3. LU. Due to some rule I understand very little, they are now able to buy other companies. Has appreciated 8 (?) times since spinning off. 4. MSFT. Between them and Paul Allen, seems they own a little of everything. (thinking spin off revenue+current market share) 5. CMGI. Really encouraged by this one. If you look at venture capital firms, the ones that did well could own the world if they had kept their equities. Nice revenue. Seems the market, regarding spin-offs, is saying that the sum is worth less than the parts. This company has LOTS of parts. 6. VVTV. $80 million in cash. 20 million shares outstanding. Experience with commerce on cable and internet. Fresh on my mind because I made an absolute killing today. (owns 15% of NetRadio--see a pattern?) 7. MKTW-not yet public but is allegedly the number two site for financial info. (50% owned by DBCC, 50% by CBS) Numbers don't look too bad. Wouldn't mind stashing cash there. 8. 9. 10. Who are these three? Number 8 is looking for venture capital and is just now getting space on a server somewhere. Number 9 just awoke a college freshman from his slumber and he's writing down the idea before he forgets it. Number ten, and the biggest of all, will come from someone who is only 15 and got on the net for the first time today. Sorry for the dis-jointedness. It's late and this is very spontaneous.

IntelliQuest Information Sys. (IQST) Internet play selling about book value with close to 4.50 per share in cash and heavy insider buying at higher prices . (stock closed at 6 3/4. Predicting big increase in profitability over the next year as company provides important information services. Could this be the next New Work Solutions? IQST provides information, technologies, & analysis services designed to improve the marketing performance of technology companies by tracking product performance, customer satisfaction and other services. Seems to have little risk at these prices.
