When I was a teen-ager I mail ordered a pint of chloroform. No ****. Poured some into a jury-rigged inhalation device and proceeded to rape&pillage brain cells. Whuh. Fortunately I was still conscious enough to puke down when the now-predictable side effects kicked in. I couldn't smell chloroform for *fifteen years* after that without turning a leetle green. Now it smells fine again. But yeah, cheap thrills borne of desperation and ennui.

Wish I could recall Hunter Thompson's exact words in describing the pharmacology of ether. :-)
