A few writers have speculated that Internet Tulipmania could end when a significant terrorist attack on a U.S. city spooks the market.

Dale Brown's book "Storming Heaven" had an interesting plot line of terrorists attacking commercial targets in the U.S., shortly after shorting and buying puts for the companies targeted.

With some Internet companies sporting multi-billion dollar market caps, yet having very insignificant physical plants (in only one or two locations), the Tulips themselves would make tempting targets for the criminally insane.
