Herbert, not in the US, but some countries may impose taxes on year end inventories. I believe however, that VLNC has a tax sabbatical fro quite a number of years, If NI indeed have such an "Inventory" tax system. The R&D expenses numbers (about $4 MM from memory) are about the same for the 1998 and 1997 quarter, so I doubt that a large chunk of inventoried batteries are actually hidden there, but it could be.
