It may be up for debate, but what you see in UseNet is a very small part of the install base. I've owned both, and SYQT was far superior. Everyone I talked to agreed with that. I got some negative feedback on Usenet, but by and large, SYQT was VERY WELL regarded.
Price is king. I agree. However, for the amount of memory you had available, and the better SYQT speeds, you paid about $15-20 less (after buying 4 cartridges). If you tried to buy and equivalent amount of memory, then you paid about $100 less. IOM did drop prices quickly, but that had little impact. The real problem was IOM's OEM agreements and SYQT's inability to get their story out there. I spoke to several people who bought IOM stuff that blew up on them, and they were under the impression that they had no choices....
