Jim. I don't usually jump in the thread too often, but that article is almost two months old. At that time CPQ's share price was still around 32 I believe. I've only been investing for a few years, but my limited experience tells me that when the share price of a company that investors had been disenchanted with starts to rise, there's usually some substantive news waiting in the wings. It's just my $.02, but I find it hard to put a lot of faith in an article written almost two months ago, with the speed of today's communications.

Hi jim kelley: When was that article written??? Latest could've been the beginning of November? Before the new direct sales initiative? Most of that stuff refers to the SECOND quarter and some in the third. What's Kwatinetz' rating NOW?

Part of the company's problem, says DataQuest analyst Kimball Brown, is that "Compaq is so intent on capturing market share that it's giving away price to boost the number of units it sells."
