Jim,
Several if not all of the answers to your questions are available in past M1 press releases. I don't have the numbers commited to memory but I think that homes passed are in the 10's of millions - subscribers are about 5 million. Last I heard, I think that M1 has about 50% of their network upgraded and capable of providing advanced services. A couple of other things to add into your calculations:
- M1 and TimeWarner are merging their high-speed Internet access (HSD) businesses. I believe M1 Express will be re-branded RoadRunner at some point, or maybe there will be a new name for the combined services entity.
- Digital Telephony - M1 is offering dial tone in a few areas - LA, Atlanta, Boston area, Detroit (I think)
- Advanced digital cable TV services (digital music channels, shopping at home, video-on-demand, full-featured, interactive, viewer guides).

The penetration rate for Internet access is still in the single digits in most areas where it is available, I believe. I don't know if broken out costs are available, I guess you'd have to dig through the annual reports or SEC filings to get that information. Off the top of my head, I can tell you that they've incurred a lot of debt to pay for the network upgrade. I know I haven't answered all of your questions and I've probably provoked a bunch of new ones. Hope it helps anyway...

>You can now order your computer at Circuit City with the MEDIAONE
PACKAGE for an additional $249.

Interesting, I never heard of this before. But at $249 I wonder who will bite...since you can have a Mediaone person come to your house and install everything and set you up for a $100. I took advantage of a special offer and the installation did not cost me a dime...so at $249 I wonder!

Anyway the speed is great and at $34.95 per month I would not imagine going back to a conventional modem ever again.
