Don't blame her a bit, then. My husband and I saw "Elizabeth" last night, he says it's not historically accurate, and I will say that it's pretty overwrought, but it was still a good movie, and of course the religion thing, the Catholic-Protestant thing, is the major source of conflict in the movie. We also saw "Anne of the Hundred Days," with Genvieve Bujold on TV last month, they go together well. The propensity of people in the religion biz to self-aggrandize and self-deal is writ large in such conflicts, but it's something that happens every day, everywhere, and who is watching these guys? At least lawyers and doctors and nurses and such are regulated by the state, and politicians are elected, and so forth, but with religious people, there is no oversight.
