It is true that Saddam is dangerous, no doubt about it, and he's making us look foolish -- there he goes again. The bigger picture is Iran. Like Russia, it claims to be our friend, while arming itself to the teeth! Some have estimated, that they have 25x (yes 25x) the military strength of Iraq now. They bought MIGs, tanks, and just about everything they could lay their hands on from the old Soviet Republics. Iran got just about all the old-school nuclear scientists. Many believe the Iran is already a nuclear power, ready to rock 'n roll with Israel. We are currently making the same mistake with Iran that we made with Iraq ten years ago. Iran is Islamic Extremism at its worst. The enemy is Israel and the USA, if we get in the way. Before you laugh this off, as no threat to us: There are now ONE BILLION Muslims - the fastest growing religion in history. While a small percentage are extremists, the underlying beliefs are the same. When the day comes (and it will) that the U.S. has to stand up to Iran (who BY THE WAY has standing ALLY agreements with Russia) this will make DESERT STORM and DESERT FOX pale in comparison. Our military is so stripped down now that we are not capable of fighting a real war on short notice, if at all. As Stalin once said, "They disarm, we arm." "When weak, fein strength, when strong, fein weakness." U.S. policies in dealing with these countries now are good 'ol politics at work. The U.S. rarely thinks about "ten years from now." If a U.S. Senator would to speak out, he would be thrown out, to say that the U.S.A. is in trouble is political suicide. The bigger concern is opinion polls and what will make the President look good today. Ten years from now we'll wish we had done a lot of things differently. Enjoy it while it lasts, because the U.S.A.'s position in the world won't be held indefinitely.
