Z, China certainly does not want to devalue. However, they are our second largest trading partner now and the country with which we have the largest trade deficit. If they want those exports to continue, they can't allow Thailand and Singapore and, egads, Taiwan to undercut them because their currency is too fat. I disagree that they are a domestically centered economy. All of the investment in the past 10 years has been geared to exports.
