eabdad, rambus is important in making communication between the mpu and the memory as fast as possible. when they are one chip, this isn't an issue and rambus is obsolete.

will it happen? i believe, yes. will it be soon? no. however, you are holding mu with a 2.5 year time frame. in 2.5 years, i think a lot of progress will have been made integrating memory on the mpu - especially on the low end where the bulk of the business is now.

notice also, you said this is important to intel - my point exactly. it is important to intel so they effectively have to front $500 mil to payoff mu to build it b/c nobody else is willing to pay the premium to build it and probably few would buy it. if everyone was all hot and bothered to buy it then somebody would make it w/o a half bil "payoff" from intel.

jmho...
