Online Buying Boosts Holiday Sales

NEW YORK (AP) -- Holiday sales grew an estimated 3 1/2 percent from last year, but a published report says online sales boosted an otherwise disappointing season.

The Wall Street Journal says ONLINE SALES MORE THEN TRIPLED !!! from a year ago.

The Journal says some retail Web sites were overwhelmed by holiday shoppers. It says sites run by Barnes & Noble and the auction site eBay either slowed or collapsed under heavy traffic during the holidays.
