In a QC meeting I attended a couple years ago, Jacobs told the audience why W-CDMA was not a good choice and that he therefore was not pursuing it as a better alternative to their existing products (had something to do with data exchange, not voice.) Can anybody explain, clearly to me, why this is so? And if this is true, why not string ERICY out as long as possible and then let them produce a system not as good as QCOM's (according to Jacobs)?
