As far as I can tell, most Canadian stocks have designated US symbols through which US brokers buy the stock, though still on a Canadian exchange. For example, you trade Manhattan Minerals (MAN.TO) on Etrade by way of the symbol MMALF, even though the actual trade goes through on the Toronto exchange. The appearance of the BDCMF symbol probably doesn't mean a thing.
