James,
I'm not kemble, but I want you to know that DELL is a very different stock.
I let my sweet husband Herb talk me into taking profits in DELL a couple of years ago. I did, and I never was able to recoup. DELL kept going UP UP UP so now, no matter what, I buy MORE on dips and NEVER NEVER sell DELL..

James,
Hi!!!

RE: On my birthday July 15, 1997, 17 months ago, on the advice of several on this thread I bought my first shares in dell. Since then it has gone up over 360% and has become about 25% of my portfolio. I desperately want to stay long on DELL. My only misgivings at this point are MD's silence over the past month. By this time into the QT he's given us some indication of what is coming, and it's been great.
Have I missed all the postings re his comments or are there so very few that it is a concern.

First of all....thanks for having all the confidence...gosh, that's what Michael signed my Fortune magazine with.... :o)...Well, let's just say that I have until now kept my opinion to myself on Michael's and management's alleged silence....Interesting that you ask since I just finished talking with a close friend half an hour ago and addressed my obvious "biased" opinion on this subject....This is of course my total speculation...but, I must also reference your question of "Michael's silence" with a fact I feel should not be ignored.... something of a rather unusual circumstance...coupled with the "controversy of last qt." .....one simple minded individual...such as myself ....should be able to draw a rather obvious conclusion...or you should if you've ever been a competitor...And, IMO Dell and the management is a very keen and determined group of competitors....Also, I can't help but not remember Michael's eyes when he appeared on CNBC the day after the earnings....IMO he showed a very disturbed look...confused that the stock didn't react the way they expected it to...I believed he displayed some "hurt" that the comments made by some fools were made without any concrete evidence...let me just say his pride was hurt....some jerk making a name for himself and gambling at the expense of Dell and not in fairness to the company...I hope I haven't looked too far into this...but, as I stated first...these comments are purely my opinion....
Well, if my pride was unfairly attacked by someone who had my previous support and without any specific evidence betrayed me...I'd be flat out pissed off....as a straight up answer to those skeptics I'd keep my mouth shut and show em all....smile when the next quarter comes in and lock the door on the previous skeptics who lost my trust....just my slanted opinion here...but, I can not recall any time in my lurking or following this stock that Dell management has kept a tight lip on sales anywhere...no question this is the longest period of time either...as example we usually have Patrick drooling over "robust" by Kevin Rollins...or Drew cryin' "we'reeeeeee riccccch" on Michael using the word: "good" to describe sales....
I might add that considering the circumstances at the end of the last qt...you'd better not bet against Dell not having a great qt....IMO the $10 million jump from $6million in internet sales made me extremely happy....frankly, I'd be hurt too if I felt we had the quarter the Dell workers and management had...and, some idiot for the sake of his own "enshrinement" made an outlandish statement of possible conjecture....

BUY MORE DELL.....only 25% of your portfolio is too much....DEWORSIFICATION... :o)

Best, kemble

Let the results speak for itself.

JimB:

I think it is better if MD stays put for a while 'coz overexposure is equally as bad as underexposure. Besides what is he going to say other than what hasn't already been said,I got the feeling last couple of months that the market was already getting a bit tired of the same story coming out of DELL. Sometimes too much of a good thing can be construed as bad news by some,go figure.<g>

PS:I think stock will be in the 80s in Jan and most likely in the 90s by Feb.

James, I predicted Michael would practically vanish this quarter and that is exactly what happened. This is very bullish in my opinion.
