It would not be suggested to short anything with a positive RS. Further, today's chart will show a move to $73 which breaks through DT resistance at $72. Shorting MER would be far riskier than I would want to play with.

Where are you getting the BRL for MER? It is trading above its bullish support line right now and there is no bearish resistance line (BRL). Not a good short or put candidate. RS is in X's, above trend (bullsih support line). If it breaks the double bottom at 68, it could signal some more weakness but you should wait for that break.
