Musicland Sells $5 Million of DVD in One Week; Hits $50
Million in DVD Sales YTD

MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Consumers clearly embraced digital video disc (DVD) technology this holiday period,
according to sales results at Musicland Stores Corporation (NYSE: MLG - news). In the last seven days of the Christmas
shopping period, sales surged with Musicland shoppers snapping up $5 million worth of DVD products. Musicland's DVD sales
have now surpassed $50 million for the year.

''Our first 'million-dollar' week was in December 1997, and now 12 months later, sales hit $5 million in one week,'' said
