My guess that the sudden rise in volume and price is due to a mutual fund or such like establishing a position in Peapod. This is what that normally looks like from past experience. Then after a day or two the stock goes back where it was when the buying volume declines. It didn't burst up at the start with the Inuts and as you say there isn't any identifiable news.

You can see another of these events back in late August at the peak there. A genuine broad rise such as in October gradually builds up volume.
