STANDING UP TO MICROSOFT

redherring.com

The first lesson I would offer is a principle I call "Don't
moon the giant." It is very important not to antagonize a
higher authority or a potentially more powerful player,
because all you do then is incite retaliation. One of
Netscape's biggest mistakes was mooning Microsoft.
Likewise, ever since the consent decree, Microsoft has
been mooning the U.S. government.

Harvey,

>>While we have increased our prices over the last 10 years other component prices have come down and continue to come down..

Kempin says they've been raising prices "over the last 10 years" which somehow contradicts Reggie's theory of falling prices and the resulting consumer benefits. Somehow Ayn Rand must explain this conundrum in one of her works of fiction. Of course, in most retail databases Windows98 will be rolling prices back to the year 1900 soon enough.

Cheers,

Norm
