This is good, but it's not "news". It has been a known fact for at least a year that SSA is the most advanced in terms of Y2k remediation of all the government agencies. They started soon enough to get a handle on the situation. Many others didn't. And, as stated before, the article is also missing important facts, leading the casual reader to potentially erroneous conclusions.

My only desire is that the alarm is raised, both for active, serious remediation, and, short of completing the remediation task, that people are properly apprised of the situation and given enough time to make prudent preparations, as needed.

Spend a little time and do a little research. Read the past history of this thread. If you are going to comment or censure, then you really need to gather the facts and keep up with the story as it evolves.

>>Nomatter what good news comes out you doom and gloomer will never be happy. You guys have already made up your minds and society as a whole will cease to function as of Jan 1, 2000, time will prove you guys wrong.<<

You speak as though you have your head someplace where the
sun doesn't shine. I'd suggest that you pull your head out
of the sand and think carefully about what's being said.
Then make up your own mind about what you will or will not do
to prepare for Y2K.
