There is a difference Len.

Daytrader=in and out in a 1-2 day period. Most don't hold stocks overnight and concentrate on momentum swings.

Short Term=have a specific goal for a stock that is "in play" meaning that they play on news, rumor, earnings, etc...

Long Term=stock pickers who work the fundamentals of the stocks. Bottom fishing, lots of research, long term 3-12 month hold periods.

I'm a little of both. I have several trading accounts. One for longterm stuff that holds my retirement savings stuff, and one for daytrading that I can work at from home. I have lots of long term picks that pay dividends and are strictly low risk. Then I have a nice chunk of cash that I jump in and out of stocks with. Making on average $300-1000 per deal with (most of the time!!).
