I saw Drudge on C-SPAN a couple days ago. Some kind of a reporters' conference or something. They asked him about his story on Sidney Blumenthal being a wife-beater (a story that was later proved to be baseless). Drudge's "defense" was that he reported the story as a rumor that had been doing the rounds, and yes, his report was right to the extent that there indeed was such a rumor being circulated! And that did wonders for his "credibility"... as a rumor-monger, I might add! ;-)
