<<< Need the acquisitions to boost price. Need the price to more economically make the acquisitions >>>

There is one strategy, however, that might work. While not quite a long shot, it does require a lot of carefully executed timing.

To wait for current product lines to proceed through their "sales cycle" to produce better times in revenue measures would truly be "to miss the boat". Better to play the current hand. It seems that a lot of non Internet companies are jumping on the bandwagon, putting up a web site and calling themselves an Internet stock.

While these actors are building on something as little as a retail online shopping site, Ampex does have something much more substantial to offer and is "surprise!" on the verge of acquiring a web hosting presence - somehow.

Real digital plus video full screen (not the tiny window herky-jerky") and the prowess to store and deliver mega-data streams on real time demand would be a decisive accomplishment worthy of any red blooded advertising agency organization - hint hint.

Assuming that Internet mania continues strong, and I see no reason for it not to (witness the early years of Automobile era the Television era the Suburban Development era), Ampex could capitalize on their visually dramatic Internet splash, boost share price, then quickly make the acquisitions from the "opportunity" list. This would lock in a larger revenue base and position Ampex as a serious supplier of Internet/Convergence digital plus video equipment and know how.

So what I am saying is that short term, acquisitions and the revenue stream may go to hell but we may see a lot of activity on the Net strategy via the holding company. In corporate form, this would probably be a lot of partnering with entrepreneurial ventures and the more serious acquisitions to come later. In share price form, not much until the Net stuff begins to come together. Very likely then there will be a price spike (and an exit point for the longest suffering).

In the meantime: keep a sharp lookout for where the marbles are being pitched - no problem on this site; expect very little in announcements except well after the fact - instead watch share price for unexplained firming (there are always leaks); keep careful note of Internet industry trends - these will exert a demand pull on any organization with a closet Net strategy.
