(c) no material change

because everyone expects this to happen, almost by definition it will happen early over the next 2.5 trading days. Money managers can sell now and still show a sexy stock like Amazon or Yahoo on their year end portfolios because the trades won't clear until 1999. They really don't give a rat's ass about st gains or lt gains. What they care about is having their work cut out for them if they carry a long position in to Jan 4, and have it crater. Tough sledding for the next 360 days. They are not stupid. They get paid based on their annual performance. Lock in 1998 bonuses and preserve sanity for 1999.

Guru.
