Regarding the car imports. I don't know how it is in the US, but here you have to pay every year to use a car in traffic. For a small and medium car, it is not that much, something between $300 and $1000.
But for a sportscar or a very powerful car, it can go up to $10.000.
They do it that way to discourage people for using those cars. Mainly for the environment and safety. Now there is a little exception on that regulation. When a car is older than 25 years, it is considered an old-timer, and for an old-timer the tax is only something like $100. Also the insurance is a lot less.

Thats the reason why those old English and also American cars became so popular here.

As far as I am concerned, I prefer a car that rides when I want it to ride.
