Another thing to remember is that RCN still has quite a bit of Infrastructure to build in order to make their StarWave service grow here in DC.

I stopped by their downtown DC offices, and inquired as to the current extent of their market reach. A gentleman admitted that RCN was currently in a growth period where earnings may be impacted by infrastructure costs as they duplicate bandwidth routes to curbside that already exist with their competitors.

But I have to hand it to them for their snazzy marketing efforts.

I suspect that RCN is looking for a higher stock price in order to do an additional IPO or private placement for expansion capital.

My opinion only.

Regards,

Ron

Kevin, thanks for the corroboration, and the additional notes.

>I do use 3 of the 4 categories of RCN services McCourt mentions.   RCN bought Interport, my good ol' ISP, and I use their local and LD (precisely because I'm an investor in LVLT). <

McCourt specifically emphasized that these services are available within the context of an "all in one" pipe delivery scheme. I'm sure that he didn't mean that this is true in every instance, but it leads me to wonder:

Does your voice service come over coaxial cable, or does it come over a Type 2 resale arrangement with the ILEC facility? Curious.

Also, some day you and I should sit down and compare notes re the bleeding edge of MFS/Intellinet services. Did you ever try to change "away" from a CLEC? When I attempted this, BEL told me that I was #38 on their list of new local number portability (LNP) candidates to try their new AIN platform that accomplishes this... !

Some day, when you have some time...
