Carl; * OT * Well I'm an old man now, and looking back I see things much different than I did even 10 years ago, also being my mom was a half breed Indian and I grew up during WWII , when gas , sugar and a lot of things were rationed, ( and can remember all that ) as well as my uncles dieing of black lung from working in the coal mines, and me on a tug boat at 15, ( IT was a great adventure ) ( but that was after I got big enough to fool them into thinking I was older, well really they were not fooled and hid me from the Coast Guard, but the lie gave them a way out ) I even made up a fairly good copy of a phony birth certificate. Besides all that I can look at my SS record, and see I was 13 years old when I started kicking in. Any way I have such a different view of what happened and how, based on the way I saw things, and the way the news twisted them, I don't have a lot of regard for what people call official records, particularly if it came from the news papers, or some book that was taking a position , and there aren't many that don't, and seldom they tell the part of the story that opposes the position or ideal they want to bring forward. Now I have collected some old films, and such that I suppose not many people would want to watch. All in all the actual founding fathers did a hell of a good job, if you take really take into account what it was they were up against. Not many people can relate with feeling to all the pulling and tugging and out and out duels that were fought just to get anything at all done or agreed on. I'v taken a good look at how many of the more dedicated of the founding father went to their graves early or dam near penniless. I put myself back in the days when it took a week for news to travel to most of the country that the civil war was over, and just try to figure what they were up against before flaming them to much. Going back to the days when the Generals had to be on the very front lines, ( I do hope being it had to happen, that it was one of my relatives who managed to kill Custer. ) I shouldn't get drawn in on politics, I've seen to much of the carpet baggers and spoils system to think arguing over what the constitution says is worth a flip if I can't change something, other than an opinion. No matter how good a system they or any one else could put together, there is one thing that can tear it down, the best of governments will turn sick if corruption and graft are left unchecked. No constitution will hold up to an ongoing assault by carpet baggers. The picture I have of what all happened is far to large and complex for me to try to paint on SI..on top of that I know it's not complete, and that no one else has a complete picture either.. but just what were they up against back in those days ? it had to be tough, I saw enough in the 40ts to know it had to be very very tough, enough to make most people today run hide, or jump off a bridge. As for the 30ts, well that was no cake walk, and a lot that was done was done because there just wasn't any other way to get any thing done or moving, and they were sweeping bodies every morning off the streets of most of the big cities. Hell WWII was a blessing for many a poor person. About half of the American men who died in it had very little to look forward to until it came along. ----------------- My picture, what I have of it; is to raw for most people to want to look at, but I'm well aware I owe a debt to many of the Men of the past, even if they didn't get it right I bet they did a better job of doing it than this breed we have today could have if they were up against the same wall. One thing that stands out in my picture as some ominous snake like thing that took the Government of the people by the people away from them, is the way the Federal Reserve was created by trickery, the results of that created the great depression and a lot of what happened in the 30ts was done in desperation, by politicians who were more afraid of riots and an out and out revolution than they openly talked about. ------------ History books won't say it but the "system and it's bankers" were so corrupt by the time AL Capon came along he was regarded as a hero among the great majority of common folks. ------------ It also took another ex gangster and bootlegger , to manage to get himself in a position to pass a few badly needed rules on the Wall Street hoods. He was critized to high heaven, but he was hands down three times more honorable and fair minded than the sh*t he went up aginst. Jim
